I happen to come across this funny video featuring the 4th anniversary of 64-bit Opteron processor. On the surface, the video mocks at Intel’s Itanium processor that never delivered what it promised. But I think the underlying message is clear. The world needs AMD. We all have benefited from AMD directly or indirectly. Even Intel needs AMD to feel the kicks and drives them to be more innovative. Without AMD, we would not enjoy all the cheap desktops and laptops today. Without AMD, Intel would probably still selling Pentium to us and not the Core 2 Duo. Consumers, as well as OEMs, definitely stand to be the biggest winners from the competition of Intel and AMD.
